Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Sam Egemo

Funeral services for Mrs. Sam Egemo was held in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City at 2 o'clock on Thursday afternoon Nov. 3 Rev. T. J. Alvestad officiated. Mrs. Selmer Westvold of Huxley, a granddaughter of Mrs. Egemo sang, "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus Name" and "Den Store Hvide Flak."

Pallbearers were Truman Egemo, Stanley Wierson, Joseph Ford, Erving Egemo, Sanford Egemo and Archie Wierson all grandsons of Mrs. Egemo. Burial was in the Story City Cemetery.

Obituary

Sophie Elgervick, daughter of Wier and Martha Elgervick, was born in Skaanevick, Norway April 24, 1859 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Martin Wierson in Ames, October 31 at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 7 days. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith in Norway.

In Norway on June 7, 1878 she was married to Samuel Egemo. They came to Morris, Illinois in 1882. In 1884 they came to Story County and settled on a farm in Hamilton County. Most of her life has been spent in and around Story City.

The couple had ten children, two of whom, Wier and Gurina, died in infancy and two whom died after they had grown to manhood, Oscar of Clarion in 1950 and Herman of Waterloo in January, 1955.

She is survived by three daughters and three sons, Mrs. Julia Ford, Sarah (Mrs. Martin Wierson), Martha (Mrs. Chester Siberell) all of Ames, Martin, Willie, and Luther of Story City. She also leaves 35 grandchildren and 95 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.

She had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City for 53 years.
