Jack Donhowe Died Suddenly of Heart Attack

Story City, July 2--Melbourn 'Jack' Donhowe, 44, popular young business man of Story City, died Friday afternoon at 4:00, as a result of heart attack suffered early in the morning.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday. Following a prayer service at the home, the funeral will be held at St. Petri Lutheran church, with his pastor Rev. S. T. Nelson in charge, assisted by his former pastor Rev. W. B. Scarvie of Detroit and Rev. A. N. Rognes of Ames. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery at Story City.

The news of the sudden death of this popular young business man, a native son of Story City and connected with the Donhowe Motor company for fiteeen years came as a distinct shock to the family and community.

While his health had not been in the best of late, there had been no apparent cause for worry and his sudden passing was a great surprise.

Mr. Donhowe, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Donhowe, was born in Story City and had lived here all his life. Following his school work he was connected with a local bank for a number of years, but had been in the Ford distribution business since 1923.

He leaves his wife who was Charlotte Marvick, daughters Peggy, Betty Ann and Charlotte Mae and sons John and Jordan, his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Donhowe of Eagle Grove and sisters Mrs. A. T. Vinje of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Mrs. Adrian Christiansen of Northfield, Minn., Mrs. Jack Whitney of Los Angeles and Mrs. Bryden Myers of Chicago.

Mr. Donhowe had always been active in business and civil affairs and was one of the devoted workers in his church. The Donhowe family, one of the pioneer families of this part of the state, has been well represented by this young man and his passing will be deeply mourned in the community in which he had spent his entire life.
