DEATHS

Gerhard A. Brattebo

Funeral services for Mr. Gerhard A. Brattebo, 72, of Story city were held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 6th at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City with the Rev. C.A. Gisselquist officiating. Soloist, Delbert Quam, sand "How Great Thou Art" and "Abide With Me." Mrs. Harold Olson was organist. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Gerhard Alfred Brattebo was born March 12, 1901 in Story City to Berge and Purnella Brattebo. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Petri Lutheran Church. He was graduated from the Story City High School and for many years he was engaged in the grocery business with his father and brothers. His entire life was spent in Story City. On June 19, 1923 he was married to Jeanette Hovland. To this union three sons were born.

Mr. Brattebo died on April 3rd at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines a week after he had undergone surgery.

Survivors include his three sons William of Denver, Colorado, Howard of St. Louis, Missouri, Gary of Albert Lea, Minnesota; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Lewis of Story City and John of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother and one sister and his parents.

Pallbearers were Robert Lekwa, Richard Thorson, William Tjernagel, Duane Orcutt, Phil Peterson and Max Strain.
