JENSEN FUNERAL SUNDAY AFTERNOON

SEVENTHDAY ADVENTIST CHURCH FILLED TO CAPACITY BY MOURNING FRIENDS

Funeral services for Mrs. P. E. Jensen of 534 Fifth street, Nevada, who died at Iowa sanitarium March 26, were held Sunday afternoon at the Seventhday Adventist church, after which interment was in the Nevada cemetery.

Two congs were sung by W. C. Foreman and Mrs. Elmer Anderson, the scripture was read and prayer offered by Elder Sheldon and the sermon was by her friend and neighbor, Elder McVagh.

Eler McVach after reading an obituary of the deceased, paid her a high tribute as a woman, a wife and mother, as a neighbor and as a practical Christian, who gave her all in her service for others.

Application of various appropriate and forceful scriptural quotations were made by Elder McVagh in summing up the lesson to be learned from life, death and their analysis.

The sketch of the life of the deceased, as prepared and read by Elder McVagh, follows:

"Minnie DeVinney was born at Tekamah, Nebraska, March 26, 1875 and died at Nevada, Iowa, March 26, 1931, her fifth-sixth birthday. She was married to P. E. Jensen at Tekamah, Nebraska, August 9, 1893. To them were born five children three of whom survive her, Pierce, Odella and Eulalie. Shortly after the birth of their first daughter who died in infancy, Mr. and Mrs. Jensen move to Alabama and lived at Chunculla and vicinity a little over eight years. Here Marguerite and Pierce were born and here Marguerite died, aged 3 years. In 1901 they moved to Blair, Nebraska where Odella and Eulalie were born. Since 1908 their home had been in Nevada, Iowa.

"Mrs. Jensen's parents were Lutherans but they accepted the Adventist faith when she was a small child. At an early age she and her sister Effie were baptize at a campmeeting at Seward, Nebraska. She leaves to mourn besides her husband, her mother, 84 years of age, one son, two daughters, three grandsons, two brothers, two sisters and a host of friends whereever she was known. Her life was one of untiring service never sparing herself.

"She was a dutiful daughter, a faithful wife, an indulgent mother, a good neighbor, a charitable sympathetic friend to the needy. In her inner life and in all her wide and varied activities she exhibited to a remarkable degree those finer qualities of soul that are outstanding marks of fellowship with God.

"While being prepared for her operation at the Sanitarium she repeated the 23rd Psalm until she became unconscious from the anesthetic."

Besides her unceasing activities in the home and for her family and friends, Mrs. Jensen was a woman who found time for various outside endeavors.

She was an active member of the Local Womans Relief Corps and the Legion Auxiliary, and was also identified with one or more divisions of the Nevada Woman's club.

Her acquaintance in Nevada was wide and her friends many. Those friendships were valued by those who were favored with the privilege of knowing her best.

The funeral bier was literally banked with flowers from member of the family and other admiring friends and neighbors.

The pallbearers were Dr. H. P. Parker, T. C. Nethery, G. A. Nystrom, J. C. Nixon, Paul Ford and A. E. Axelson, while the flowers were care for by Mrs. H. F. Sones, Mrs. C. A. Regester and Mrs. Olson.

The son, Dr. Pierce Jensen, wife and son of Mason City; the daughters, Mrs. Odella Follett of Kansas City and Miss Eulalie of Ralston were with the devoted husband and father and were all at the bedside of the mother when she passed away and were here for the funeral.

Other relatives from a distance here with Mr. and Mr. Henry Jensen, Ed Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Kuhr, Mrs. Emma Washburn and Joe DeVinney of Blair, Nebr., Mrs. Abbey Brinley of Tekamah, Nebraska and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Casteel of Oakland, Nebraska.
