Services Held For Mrs. Martin Jensen At S. City Church

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 23 at 2 p.m. at the Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church in Story City for Mrs. Martin Jensen. Services were conducted by Rev. Carryl R. Ziettlow. Music was furnished by Lillian Alsager accompanied by Mrs. Dorrell Doolittle at the organ.

Casketbearers were Milford, Leo, Kenneth, Leonard and Delbert Johnson, Clarence Williams and Gordon Hoffman. Burial was in Story City Municipal cemetery with the Larson Funeral Home of Story City in charge.

Obituary

Amanda Francis Gower Jensen was born July 31, 1870 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania and died at her home in Story City on January 21, 1960 at the age of 89 years.

Mrs. Jensen suffered a fall during November 1958 and was hospitalized. Although she recovered from the visible effects of the fall she was bedfast until her death.

She was the youngest of seven children of John and Sindavella Gower. In 1900 she came to Greene County, Iowa where she resided until 1902 when she came to Story City.

On April 20, 1904 she was married to Martin Jensen. To this union was born three children, a daughter, Mickey and two sons, Elmer and Irvin. On March 27, 1921 she and her husband became members of the Grace EUB Church in Story City under the guidance of Pastor L. F. Smith. Because of ill health, Mrs. Jensen was unable to participate in the activities of her church during the last years of her life.

Her husband, Martin, preceded her in death in August, 1959. She is survived by her three children, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
