Last Rites Observed for Mrs. Iver Iverson December 17th at Story City

Funeral services for Mrs. Iver B. Iverson was held in St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 17. The Rev. George C. Strum officiated. Mrs. Alfred Jacobson, organist, accompanied Mrs. Robert Herman who sang "What a Friend We Have In Jesus," and "Jeg Ved Mig EnSovn."

Pallbearers were Elmer J. Fardal, Andrew Enderson, Erwin Hove, Theroy Wierson and Ingolf Brekke.

Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Life Sketch

Aletta Hendrika Thorson was born to Martha and Thor Thorson in Asasheim, Sogn, Norway on October 8, 1876. She died at her home in Story City on Wednesday afternoon, December 14 at the age of 64 years, two months and six days.

She came to America at the age of 14 in the company of her uncle, Mons Anderson. They lived in the Jewell community where other friends and relatives had settled before them.

On January 22, 1903 she was united in marriage with Iver B. Iverson at the Lake Center Church near Stanhope. They farmed in the Stanhope community for many years.

Four children were born to this union, all of who survive. They are Irene Iverson and Mrs. Thora Leonard, both of Story City; Floyd Iverson of Ames and Mrs. Alvina Mattes of Des Moines.

Mrs. Iverson is also survived by a sister in Bergen, Norway and by five grandchildren; Roger and Norman Iverson and Kate, Emily and Jed Mattes.

Iverson preceded her in death in 1949. She was also preceded in death by a sister and a brother in Norway and a brother, Hans Thorson of Stanhope.

She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church at Stanhope until her retirement and of St. Petri's until her death.
