William Hansen is dead at 72, rites Wednesday

William C. Hansen, 72, Rt. 2, Nevada, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. He had suffered for years from a respiratory ailment.

A native of Lake Forest, Ill., Mr. Hansen was born June 26, 1898, the son of Charles and Christine Hansen. He worked for a paving firm in Chicago before moving to Story County as a farmer 39 years ago.

He was married to Erma J. Lobaugh November 20, 1943 at Marshalltown.

He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church, and a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Chicago.

Hansen is survived by his wife, Erma; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Sorensen of Nevada and Mrs. Ray Bartlett of Des Moines; two step sons, Llewellyn W. Lobaugh of Junction City, Kans. and Haynes E. Lobaugh of Carmichael, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Harry Sorensen of Nevada; 15 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

Funeral services will be at the Memorial Lutheran Church Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Harry Myklebust officiating. Burial will be in the Nevada Cemetery.
