DEATH OF PIONEER

Mrs. Mahala Giles Passed Away Saturday Morning

Cambridge, Oct. 7--Mrs. Mahala Giles pioneer citizen of Cambridge passed away Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chris Osmundson of Webster City where she was taken weeks ago to be cared for. Mrs. Giles had reached the age of 78 years, 1 month and 18 days. Death was due to complications incident to age. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at United Brethren church. Rev. Fisher of Webster City officiating. The flowers were many and beautiful. The body was accompanied by her daughter and family. Mrs. Giles had been a resident of Cambridge about fifty four years. Mr. Giles passed away about twenty-one years ago. One daughter also passed away in childhood. Two daughters, Mrs. Arnold Merz of this place, Mrs. Chris Osmundson of Webster City are left to mourn the loss of a devoted mother. A number of grandchildren, one brother, Walter Adams. Her grandsons acted as pall bearers. Interment was in the local cemetery. One half brother Steve Curtis and many other relatives.
