Vena B. Shipley

Vena Belle Shipley, 78, of Nevada died March 30 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines from injuries caused in a fall at her home.

Shipley was born May 13, 1911, in Elm Springs, Ark., to Elbert and Pearl Barnett. She married Frank Shipley in Upland, Cal., in 1936 and worked as an assembly line worker in General Electric for 23 years, retiring in 1976. Shipley moved to Nevada in June, 1989, from Upland.

Survivors include one son, Ernest Shipley, Nevada; two grandchildren; one sister, Della Barnett of Victorville, Calif., and two brothers, Lewis Barnett of Bentonville, Ark., and Carl Barnett of Upland, Calif.

Visitation was held April 2 at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada. Services were held April 4 at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home with burial in the Nevada Cemetery.
