Robert J. Clark was born February 12, 1923 in Ames, Iowa the son of George A. Clark and Vera (Dotts) Clark.

He attended the Ontario one room school house near Ames before graduating from Ames High School. Bob attended Iowa State University and the University of Iowa, studying Journalism and Law. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, from January of 1943 to November of 1945. He was assigned to the 24th Bomber Group – 3rd Air Division on a B17. Bob was involved in the Central Europe and Rhineland Campaigns and had to bailout over the English Channel when his plane was hit. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. Bob lived in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and California before returning to Iowa in the late 1970’s. He was a writer and film producer for the federal government, a carpenter and had owned his own business.

Bob passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Care Center, in Indianola, Iowa, at the age of 95 years.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Beverly Barringer; daughter, Jacqueline Clark and step-daughter, Susan Richardson and his siblings: Bruce Clark, Paul Clark, Marjorie Rodgers, Daniel Clark, Rodger Clark, Phillip Clark and Patricia Attecery.

Bob is survived by his children, Emily (Curt) Larson and Mary Ann (Kevin) Seligman; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings: Kay Trussell of Texas, Gary Clark of Texas and Douglas Clark of Arizona; 121 nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.

Graveside Memorial Services for Robert Clark, age 95 of Boone, Iowa, will be held Friday, September 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasantville Cemetery in Pleasantville, Iowa. Friends and family will gather at the Mason Funeral Home after 1:00 p.m. and process to the cemetery. Deacon Donald Efinger will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by the Pleasantville American Legion Post No. 108 and the United States Army.
