Funeral Services Held Here for Late Jesse B. Carr
Funeral rites for Jesse B. Carr, 61, Nevada, native son of Story county who died at the University hospital, Iowa City, April 30, were held at the Seventh Day Adventist church here Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock and were attended by a large circle of relatives and friends. The sermon was preached by Elder K. L. Grant of Minneapolis Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
The following life sketch of the deceased was read during the services.
"Jesse B. Carr, youngest son of James and Josephine Carr, was born on the farm four miles east of Nevada, May 1, 1880 and passed away at Iowa City April 30, 1941.
"On March 18, 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Ronald. To this union 10 children were born; three sons and seven daughters, all of whom are living, excepting one son who died in infancy. About all of his life was lived in Nevada and vicinity.
"When about 14 years of age, Mr. Carr accepted present truth and united with the Seventh-day Adventist church ever remaining an adherent to that faith, and died in the hope of the soon-coming Saviour.
"He is survived by his companion, two sons, Elmer and Willis of Prescott, Ariz., seven daughters, Mrs. Leola Allen, Mrs. Josephine Pryor and Mrs. Olive See all of Nevada; Mrs. Angeline Reberly, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Dorothy Holsinger, Maxwell; Mrs. Doris Radcliffe, San Diego, Calif.; Miss Elsie Carr of Ames; two brothers, John Carr of Bloomington, Ill., and Charles Carr of St. Francis, Kan., and 15 grandchildren.
He was a loving husband and tender-hearted father. He is gone but not forgotten."

Carr of Bloomington, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Ronald of Sac City; Mrs. Jean Turner of Lincoln, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Vern Holsinger of Maxwell; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Taylor of Stuart; Mr. and Mrs G. W. Hayworth, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Taylor and Floyd, Mrs. A. E. Cameron and Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Bowers, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Bowers, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Taylor, Mrs. Johnnie Buchman, Mrs. Lou Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pugh and daughter, all of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Herman of Elkhart; Mrs. C. E. Pierce and mother of Maxwell, and possibly others.
