Mrs, Chas. Burkhart Dies Here Late Sunday Evening
Mrs. Charles Burkhart, 47, of 937 Lincoln avenue, died at Iowa sanitarium Sunday, January 3, at 9:30 p. m., following an illness of three months.
On November 12, he had entered the University hospital at Iowa City, where she underwent a very serious major surgical operation.
She was brought home from Iowa City the day before Christmas and was able to enjoy the holiday week with her family, but was taken worse early Sunday and hastened to Iowa sanitarium, where death occured in the evening.
Definite announcement of the funeral arrangements await word from a sister, Mrs. Jack Schnider of Oakland, Calif., and of a brother, George Healey of Des Moines.
In her immediate family she is survived by her husband, Charles Burkhart and children, Betty Ann, 13, and Carl Allen, 10.
Her mother Mrs. Anna Healey, whose home was a Cedar Rapids, was buried in the Nevada cemetery, when she passed away about three years ago.
Mrs. Burkhart was a native of Denmark and had received her naturalization papers but a few months before she became ill. She came to Nevada as Miss Anna Healey, in 1926, being connected with what then became known as the J. & H. cafe and it was while she was thus connected that she was wed to Mr. Burkhart.
