C. M. MORSE, CIVIL WAR VETERAN HAS ANSWERED "TAPS"

HAD LEFT HERE FOR CALIFORNIA BUT A FEW DAYS BEFORE, IN USUAL HEALTH

C. M. Morse, 83, Civil War veteran and longtime resident of Story county, died very suddenly at Los Angeles, Calif., Friday afternoon, according to a message received here and the body id expected here Wednesday morning at 7:20. Funeral services will be at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. M. Boardman, 736 Fifth street, Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock after which interment will be in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery, with Nevada Post No. 48 American Legion in charge.

The news of the death of Mr. Morse was a great shock to relatives and friends in this city. Mr. Morse had spent the summer here, having come back with the body of Mrs. Morse, who passed away in May. He had visited at the homes of his daughters Mrs. Boardman and Mrs. Maude Gamble and also had made a trip up into Wisconsin to visit with a sister and other relatives.

Sunday evening, Aug. 7, he left here for Los Angeles which has been his home for some years. He had been in his usual health and was feeling as well as usual when he left here. He had reached Los Angeles Wednesday and it was Friday afternoon about 6 o'clock that word reached here of his sudden death. There were no particulars.

He leaves one son and four daughters, besides a sister and other relatives. His daughters here are Mrs. Maude Gamble of south of the city and Mrs. Boardman of Fifth street, while in California are Mrs. Chas. Ashford and Mrs. Edna Birch and the one son Marcellus Morse, all living in or near Los Angeles.

Mr. Morse had lived in Maxwell and Nevada for many years and had a wide and most favorable acquaintance over the county and state. He was a veteran of the Civil war, was long active in Republican politics and was one of the well known men of the community.
