Accidental Death.

Samuel Bates, a lad some twelve years of age, son of Matthew Bates of Howard township, lost his life on Friday last. The lad had been driving his father's team to and from the woods carrying fence posts or wood. Between two of the trips his mother withing to go to a neighbor's got in the wagon while the boy held the horses by their heads. One of the horses is fractious on the least provocation and becoming frightened started suddenly knocking down the boy and dragging the wagon over his body. The injury was inflicted in the region of the small of the back and death ensued in about twenty-four hours. The loss is severely felt by the parents.
