Robert “Bob” Dale Maxwell, 85, of Maxwell, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Bob was born August 22, 1932, in Marshalltown, the son of Cloyd Dale and Rosa Pearl (Bear) Maxwell. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1951 and served in the Airforce during the Korean Conflict. On December 26, 1953, Bob was united in marriage to Phyllis “Jeanne” Carroll at the First United Methodist Church in Nevada.

Bob farmed all of his life near Maxwell and worked as an Aerospace Engineer for Martin Marietta Aerospace. He was a member of the Harold Ness Post 249 American Legion in Maxwell and the Maxwell VFW. He enjoyed farming, tractor rides and racing and was an honorary board member of the Knoxville Sprint Car Hall of Fame.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jean of Maxwell; his son, Randy Maxwell of Maxwell and his daughter, Shelby Maxwell and her daughter, Nathleigh and his daughter, Jordan Fuller and her son, Rhett. Bob is also survived by his daughter, Sandra Maxwell of Aurora, CO and her son, Joshua (Amy) Sutton and their children: Allie, Jared and Janessa. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, John Warren Maxwell.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 16 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell with Pastor Tom Lee officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Maxwell VFW, the Maxwell American Legion or Collins-Maxwell Athletics.
