MARSHALL FINNIE CALLED BY DEATH
WELL KNOWN AROUND COLLINS AND McCALLSBURG--BROTHER OF W. W. FINNIE
Special to the Journal.
Collins, Sept. 3--A. Marshall Finnie, 52, native son of Collins, died in a hospital at Marshalltown late Friday afternoon from an affliction from which he had been a sufferer for some years and from which he had been uable to get relief.He was taken to the hospital of Thursday and died Friday evening at 5:00. The body was brought back to Collins and interment will be in the cemetery here Sunday afternoon, following funeral services at the Christian church at 2:00, with Rev. Hart of Des Moines in charge.
The elder son of Mr. and Mrs. George Finnie, he was born Feb. 13, 1878, on a farm near Maxwell and he was raised in the Collins neighborhood.
He grew to manhood in this community and was united in marriage February 9, 1902 to Miss Lillie Stevenson of Washington, Iowa. One son, Wade, was born to this union. The wife died in 1909 and the son now lives at Marshalltown.
Two years later he was married to Miss Addie Shearer, who with the parents, the one son, two sisters and a brother, survive him.
They lived in and around Collins for a time, after which they moved to McCallsburg, where they had charge of the telephone exchange for a number of years. Disposing of that business they went on a farm for a year or so, but failing health compelled him to give up farming and they retied and moved back to Collins where the family home continued until his death, with his aged parents.
Mr. Finnie leaves besides his wife and son Wade, his parents, two sisters, Mrs. George Holmes of Collins and Mrs. Myrtle Neibel of Des Moines and brother Walter W. Finnie of Nevada.
