ALLAN PURKHISER DIED AT WAVERLY
LONG TIME RESIDENT OF NEVADA; FUNERAL HERE ON SATURDAY
Allan Purkhiser, 75, die Thursday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Grant Edgerley at Waverly, from the effect, of a stroke of paralysis suffered on Tuesday, which was followed late Thursday with a second stroke.
The body will be brought to Nevada, the funeral service held at Memorial Lutheran church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, after which interment will be in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery.
Mr. Purkhiser was for many years a resident of Nevada being the only son of the pioneers, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Purkhiser. The parents are both deceased.
The Purkhiser home, after the family came here in 1866, was at 415 G avenue.
Mr. Purkhiser was born at Salem, Indiana, July 1, 1855, he came to Nevada with his parents in 1866 and lived in Nevada continuously until a few years ago when he with his wife went to Waverly, where their daughter Mrs. Lila Edgerley has her home.
He leaves besides his wife, one son M. R. Purkhiser of Nevada, and two daughters, Mrs Lila Edgerley of Waverly and Mrs. Emily Wilson of Des Moines.
He also leaves four sisters, they being Mrs. Laura Halsey of Madrid, Mrs. Emily Hornberger of Lincoln, Nebr., and Dr. Lillian and Miss Elizabeth Purkhiser of Des Moines. He also leaves a number of nephews and nieces.
Allan Purkhiser is well and most kindly remembered by the older residents of Nevada.
