Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.
Carolyn Kay Bostwick after a courageous battle with cancer went to be with Savior on July 14, 2018 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be Thursday July 19, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 at the church. Interment will be in the Branson Cemetery near Loveland, Iowa.
Carolyn was born on August 9, 1941 in Dunlap, Iowa to Michael Edward and Margaret Karen (Jorgensen) Hatterman. She grew up in Dunlap and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School and after graduation worked at Boys Town in Omaha, NE. Carolyn married Duaine G. Bostwick on February 19, 1966. They lived in Council Bluffs, IA seven years before moving to Story City. Carolyn and Duaine were blessed with two children, son Daniel and daughter, Linda. What followed were many happy years and four grandchildren and a step-grandchild were added to the family.
In Story City Carolyn worked at the hospital for 17 years, also, at Grandpa’s Toy Box and the Carousel Tea Room. She enjoyed family and she loved to cook. Carolyn loved being a Grandma and she enjoyed the time she spent playing card games, board games and video games with her grandchildren. In turn, they loved telling their friends that Grandma was a “Gamer” and had her own Play Station. She also enjoyed her friends, reading, traveling and playing cards.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 52 years, Duaine; her son Daniel (Patty) Bostwick of Connersville, IN; her daughter, Linda (Rick) McMillen of Des Moines; her four grandchildren, Austin and Tori Bostwick, and Devin and Conner McMillen; a step grandchild, Erin (McMillen) Wilcox; her brothers, Michael (Sharon) Hatterman and Robert (Claudia) Hatterman of Omaha, NE, Dave (Kathy) Hatterman of Dow City, Gary Hatterman of Phoenix, AZ; her sisters, Kris (Dave) Tramel of Woodbine, Sandy (Dean) Finken of Earling and Cindy Hatterman of Denison and many nephews and nieces.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, Patrick and her sister, Janet.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Petri Lutheran Church or the Bliss Cancer Center in Ames.
The family would like to thank the wonderful people at Bliss Cancer Center (7 years) and the Israel Family Hospice House for their love and care.
