"TAPS" FOR CIVIL WAR VETERAN

A. F. TIENAN LAID TO REST WITH MILITARY HONORS TODAY

The body of Augustus F. Tienan, 88, Civil war veteran, a resident of Story county intermittently for the past 47 years, was interred with military honors in the Nevada cemetery just before noon today. Funeral services had been held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 form the Baptist church, in Swea City, where he had passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. E. Kelley.

Mr. Tienan was interred by the side of his wife who passed away four years ago. He is survived by two of seven children, Mrs. J. E. Kelley of Swea City and Mrs. Ella Doble of Kansas City, Mo.

The body was accompanied to Nevada today by Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Kelley and their children, Marion Kelley, Otto Kelley, Mrs. H. B. Picht and Mrs. August Peterson and husband of Swea City. Others here were Attorney and Mrs. R. L. Bryant of Marshalltown, Mrs. Eddie Dannenberger and Dan Wingert of Colo, Rev. G. R. Siemens, pastor of the Baptist church of Swea City of which denomination the deceased had been a member for over forty years also accompanied the body and had charge of the service.

Mr. Tienan was a native of Germany and was 87 years, 8 months and 23 days old.

The deceased who had lived in Richland township and been well-known in Nevada at one time was met at the cemetery by an escort, a firing squad from Nevada Post American Legion and his body was laid to rest with military honors.
