JOHN R. LARSON NEVADA ATTORNEY DIED EARLY TODAY
VICTIM OF PARALYSIS FOLLOWING RECOVERY FROM MAJOR OPERATION
John R. Larson, 60, Neavda attorney died at his home 820 Fourth street, this morning at five o'clock from the effect of a stroke of paralysis suffered Sunday evening about 9:30 and from which he never regained consciousness.
Mr Larson had submitted to a surgical operation about four weeks before his death. He made very gratifying recovery from the operation to all appearances and had been out and round for about two weeks.
Sunday he had enjoyed the needed exercise, had taken an automobile ride with his family and friends, had dined well with the family and to all appearances was getting along as well as might be hoped for, when he was suddenly stricken.
The funeral of Mr. Larson will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church, after which interment will be in the Nevada cemetery. Rev. L. E. Watson will be in charge.
The funeral cortege will be accompanied fro the church to the cemetery by a guard and firing squad from Nevada Post Bi, 48 American Legion, and he will be accorded military honors at the grave.
Friends who desire to view the body may do so between hours of ten o'clock and noon on Friday, but the casket will not be opened at church.
Mr. Larson, a native of Denmark, had been a resident of Nevada for the most of time since arriving in America at the age of 17 years.
Since arriving at manhood and identifying himself with the affairs of the country. Mr. Larson had been a prominent factor in the affairs of Nevada.
He had taught in the schools of the city, for twenty-five years or more had been secretary of school board, at the time of his death was president of library board, served several years as city solicitor, was a member of both the Masonic and Pythian lodges, a charter member of the Twentieth Century club, served as president of Community club and had been identified with various other activities in the city and county.
He read law in the office of Colonel H. E. Hadley, during the same time handling a large and lucrative insurance business that he had built up for himself and was admitted to the bar in 1907,
During the about 23 years of his practice at the bar of Story county, he had enjoyed a growing and successful practice.
He was a veteran of the Spanish American War, having enlisted in the Fifty-second Iowa Volunteer Infantry and served until November 9 of that year. During the time that he was in the service he contracted typhoid fever, so prevalent in the army camp at that time, and from that he was a severe sufferer.
Mr. Larson leaves his wife, Mrs. Vivian Larson, one daughtr, Mrs Clara Boyce and a grandson.
