COLLINS PIONEER CALLED BY DEATH

C. W. VASEY DIED LATE MONDAY ON OLD HOMESTEAD NEAR COLLINS

Special to the Journal
Collins, April 22--Chauncey W. Vasey, 43, native son of this community, died at his home on the old Vasey homestead south of here late Monday afternoon from pneumonia.

The funeral will be held at the Church of Christ in Collins Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 after which interment will be in the Collins cemetery. The sermon will be by Rev. A. B. Kern, of Lake City, former local pastor.

Mr. Vasey, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Vasey, was born in this neighborhood May 24, 1886, and grew to manhood here. He was married to Flora Ozmun in 1914 and five children were born to them. They are William, Leona, Charles, Lenora and Albert.

Besides his wife and the children he leaves his aged father William Vasey, five brothers and three sisters. The brothers are Charles, John, Arthur, Jeffe and Raleigh, while the sisters are Mrs. Euclid Harsh, Mrs. Arthur Hand and Miss Ethel, the latter at home. With the exception of the brother, John, whose home is in Minnesota, all members of the family live in or near Collins.

Mr. Vasey had been a sufferer from asthma and other complications for a number of years and about two years ago went to New Mexico, where he spent about 16 months with some apparent benefit.

The Vasey family is one of the oldest and most respected families in the community and its members had been factors in the development of this part of the county
