C. L. FISH, COLLINS PIONEER, IS DEAD; FUNERAL MONDAY

SUDDEN PASSING OF PROMINENT CITIZEN OF THAT COMMUNITY

Collins, April 12--Charles L. Fish, 70, prominent pioneer farmer of the Collins community died very suddenly at his home in the south edge of the city, early today from a heart attack. News of the sudden death of Mr. Fish came as a great shock to members of the family and the community.

While all of the details of the funeral are not determined, it is reported that the services will be held Monday at 2 p. m. from the home of the son Edwin Fish, on the old homestead south of town interment will be at Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. Fish, one of the real pioneers of the neighborhood had always been prominent in the business, civic and social life of the community. He was a member of the Methodist church, of the Masonic lodge, the Eastern Star of Collins and also the Des Moines Consistory and Za-Ga-Zig Temple of Mystic Shrine.

Born at old Peoria, southwest of here, November 21, 1859, a son of Wilson and Mary Fish he ha lived in the community all of his life.

He was united in marriage to Maggie Gamble at Maxwell November 4, 1889 and to this union three children were born. They are Gamble Clare Fish, Charles Edwin Fish and Myrna, wife of Harry Sokol. These with the wife and nine grandchildren, are left to mourn his untimely passing.

He also leaves two sisters and a number of half brothers and sisters. They are Mrs. Sarah Mead of Boone, Miss Etta Fish of Collins, Walter Fish of Ames, Frank Fish of Cambridge, Mrs. Lew Watson, Mrs. Amanda Richmond and Mrs. Wilbur Beard all of Rhodes and Mrs. Minerva Scott of Nebraska.

He also leaves a number of nieces and nephews and wide circle of warm friends and acquaintances, who will mourn his death.

Mr. Fish had been in his usual health and it was not until Thursday that he had a slight attack. This passed away and he had suffered no more trouble until three hours before his death. The fatal attack appeared about 11 o'clock Friday night and he passed away this morning at 2:30.
