Justin James Uthe was born August 4, 1991 to Gary and Kathy Uthe in Ames, Iowa. Justin was baptized at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilbert, and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. He graduated from Roland-Story High School in 2010, and Iowa State University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business and a minor in Economics. He was employed as a grain merchandiser at Innovative Ag Services.

Justin enjoyed dancing, video games, movies, music, playing guitar, boating, being outside, disc golfing, photography/videography, drawing, and sports. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his girlfriend, family, friends, and his dog, Zio. He will be remembered for always having a smile and creating laughter and joy for those around him.

Jesus called Justin home, while surrounded by family, on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at 26 years of age. Justin left this earth a hero as an organ and tissue donor.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Ally Gast of Ames; his father, Gary (Sue) Uthe of Story City; his mother, Kathy Uthe of Roland; his brother, Jordan (Holly) Uthe of Boone; his sister, Michelle (Brant) Pfantz of Ankeny; two step-brothers, Andy (Brooke) Bohnker of Chicago and Seth (Melissa) Bohnker of New York City; his step-sister, Sarah (Travis) Smith of Ames; eight nieces and nephews, Josh, Noah, Caleb, Annabelle, Zadie, Levi, Samuel and Evelyn; and many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dan and Marie Uthe.
