Gary Siedelmann 64, of Ames, IA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 8, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. A gathering of friends will be held Sunday, March 18, from 2-5pm at DG’s Tap House at 127 Main Street, Ames. Everyone is welcome to join us for a celebration of Gary’s life.

Gary Paul Siedelmann was born on May 6, 1953 to Herbert and Arlene “Vivian” (Smith) Siedelmann in Ames, Iowa. He graduated from Ames High School in 1971 after which he traveled for a few years and enjoyed working on a fishing boat out of Monterey, California. He then returned to Ames to work with his father for the next 23 years in the family construction business. Gary worked for both Woodruff Construction and Showcase Kitchens before becoming a self-employed general contractor in 2008. Gary showed interest in personal fitness, investment banking, and finance. You could often find Gary socializing with his many friends, playing the guitar, golfing, or telling a good joke. He will be missed by all.

Gary is survived by his son, Derek Siedelmann of Ames and his sister, Jan (Siedelmann) Stiles of Strafford, New Hampshire currently living aboard a sailboat on the east coast and Bahamas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
