Bonita Carole Coleman was born March 13, 1961 to Kenneth Donald and Judith Lorraine (Halverson) Brown in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Bonita attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge and the University of Wisconsin-Rock County at Janesville, Wis. Bonita and Mark Thomas Coleman were married April 28, 1990 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge.
Bonita worked in a number of management positions with Target stores in the state of Iowa. She also worked as an award-winning manager for Lerner New York and Bath Body. She worked as a receptionist in the health care industry and enjoyed music, singing, and researching family genealogy. Bonita volunteered on numerous occasions and was involved with the Special Olympics, the United Way of Story County and a Day of Caring with McFarland Clinic. Her passion were her husband and children.
Bonita passed away at 56 years of age on December 27, 2017 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Bonita is survived by her husband, Mark Coleman of Ames; her children, Mary Beth Coleman of Ames, Lucas Coleman of Ames; Andrea (Matt) McGinley of Olathe, Kan. and Britney (Dave) Wakefield of Roland; six grandchildren, Maggie, Henry, Lucy, Clara, Carver and Chandler; her mother, Judith (Lanny) Fouts of Rockwell City; her brother, Mark (Kathy) Brown of Sheboygan, Wis.; her sisters, Ruth Ann (Jay) Smith of Wales, Wis. and Laura (Jeff) Montgomery of Duncombe; and her loving dog, Zeke.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth.
Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
