Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Betsy Ann Peterson passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28 at Rhythm Church, 21 8th Street SE in Mason City. A reception at the church will immediately follow the service.

Betsy Ann Bomberger was born December 20, 1967 to John “Ed” and Carolyn (Eslinger) Bomberger in Carbondale, Illinois. Betsy graduated from Wilton High School in 1987 and married Kurt Shawn Peterson on December 28, 1991 at First Presbyterian Church in Wilton. Betsy attended Iowa State University and graduated from DMACC in Ankeny with a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Betsy enjoyed spending time reading, traveling and most of all being with family. Her nieces and nephew were especially close to her heart. She had a unique ability to find happiness no matter what her circumstances and she had a strong faith in God that comforted her throughout her illness.

Betsy is survived by her mother, Carolyn Bomberger, of Mason City; her sisters, Julie (Rich) Russo (nieces, Renata and Alyssa) of Columbus, OH. Lisa (Jeff) Brinkley (nephew, Eli and niece, Abi) of Mason City; and her husband, Kurt Peterson, of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Bomberger; her paternal grandparents, John and Mattie (Solyst) Bomberger; her maternal grandparents, Everett and Lucille (Griswold) Eslinger; and her aunt, Betty Jane (Bomberger) Richards.

Adams Funeral Home in Ames is assisting the family with arrangements.
