Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Joan Guy, 86, of Boone, passed away November 17, 2017 at Westhaven Community in Boone, IA. Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 21 at Adams Funeral Home in Ames from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, California.

Joan Adele Guy was born February 17, 1931 to John Arthur and Adele Marie (Savoy) Corbett in Westfield, New Jersey. Joan graduated from Westfield High School in 1949 and later received her teaching degree from Trenton State Teaching College in 1953. In that same year she met and married Roy Enright Guy on August 29. Joan lived in many different places while Roy was serving in the Air Force. He was stationed twice in Montgomery, AL; Riverside, CA; Arlington, VA; Bangkok, Thailand; Alexandria, VA and his last duty station was Cypress, CA. Joan was a member of Cypress Evangelical Free Church in Cypress, CA. Her hobbies included crafting, singing and Bible study. Joan’s family and faith were the most important part of her life.

Joan is survived by her children, Steve (Judy) Guy of Carlsbad, CA; Gary (Judy) Guy of Brea, CA; Laura (Larry) Austin of Ames, IA; Seven grandchildren, Christy (Peter) Bekendam, Jenelle Guy, Andrea (Morgan) Sherman, Megan (Cameron) Schweder, Heather (Orlando) Samudio, Katelyn (Neal) Fisher and Michael Austin; five great grandchildren, Aidan, Jacob, Averi, Ava and Ryleigh.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one son, Kevin Guy.
