Orville Davis was born on May 16, 1912 in Chenoa, Illinois to Edwin and Eva Marie (Feit) Davis. At the age of one, his family moved to a farm in Polk County, Iowa where they resided for three years. They then moved to a farm in Story County near Nevada. Orville attended North Grant Consolidated School for 10 years and then graduated from Nevada High School in 1930.

He started farming in partnership with his father. In 1943, they moved to a farm near Roland. After seven years there, his father passed away and Orville and his mother moved into Roland. After ten years in Roland, his mother passed away.

On January 20, 1961 Orville married Minerva Rise. Orville and Minerva became members of Bergen Lutheran Church and Orville served two terms on the Church Council. In 1965, they were employed as custodians at the Church and continued in that capacity until retiring in 1985. Orville was a longtime member of Roland Kiwanis Club, acting as secretary for 11 years. He also served five years as a member of the Story County Farm Bureau Board.

Orville died November 4, 2017 at Bethany Manor in Story City at the age of 105.

Orville is survived by two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minerva on November 14,1997; three brothers, Eldon, Floyd and Laurence and two sisters, Alberta Campoy and Ellen Huss.
