Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Earl A. Boss, 94, of Ames passed away October 22, 2017 at Mary Greeley Medical Center of congestive heart failure. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Gilbert Lutheran Church in Gilbert, IA. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 10:30 am also at Gilbert Lutheran Church in Gilbert, IA. Burial will take place at 1:45 pm at the Ames Municipal Cemetery in Ames, IA.

Earl was born April 9, 1923 to Martin and Carrie (Ward) Boss in Menlo, Iowa. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1947. After the Navy he and his father worked together farming. On March 3, 1951 he married Thelma Venner at Vernon Lutheran Church, Dows, IA. Into this union two daughters were born. He enjoyed spending time with his family and doing things in the great outdoors.

He is survived by his beloved wife Thelma Boss of Story City, daughters Kay (Neil) Anderson of Ames, Kathy (Don Myers) Petersen of Loveland, CO; grandchildren Tina (Kerry) Madsen of Knoxville, IA, Kevin (Stacy) Anderson of Speedwell, TN, Jared (Dawn) Petersen of Firestone, CO, Brian Petersen of Fort Collins, CO; and great grandchildren, Carter and Wyatt Petersen (Jared) and Abigail Anderson (Kevin); nephew Barry (Sheryl) Boss, of Sheridan, WY, and niece Carol (Vane) Huggins, of Easton, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Violet and brother Wayne.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family or to Gilbert Lutheran Church.
