Kenneth Laverne Banks, 83 of Nevada, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017, at Story County Medical Center in Nevada.

Kenny was born November 9, 1933, in Maxwell, the son of Harley and Elva (Cunningham) Banks. On October 3, 1959, he was united in marriage to Sandra Williams at the Maxwell United Methodist Church in Maxwell. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1961. Kenny enjoyed fishing, camping, working on cars and doing yardwork. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kenny retired from Williams Cylinder Head in 1998.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Sandy of Nevada; his daughters: Tammy Juncker of Ames, Julie (Bruce) Oxley of Nevada and Hope (Michael) Paine of Farrar; his grandchildren: Crystal Myers (Kelly Coe), Larry (Dani) Juncker, Mia Olufade, Kenny Oxley, Heather Rhodes, Madison Paine and Logan Paine; five great-grandchildren: Tessa Myers, Gage Myers, Ethen Olufade, Lily Johnson and Marvin Oxley; his brother, Darrel (Judy) Banks of Webster City; and his sister, JoAnn Mayfield of Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Harley, Lyle, Ron and Gary Banks; and a sister, Marilyn Banks.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 13, at the Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Ames.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Kenny.

Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
