OBITUARY
MRS. HARRY PINCOMBE.
Mrs. Minnie Johnson Pincombe, wife of Harry Pincombe, died about one o'clock Thursday afternoon at the home in this city of their son Will, where she had for some time been more or less seriously ill. She was quite sick last spring and since recovering in part from that illness had continued in delicate health. Finally an operation was judged necessary, and it was had on Sunday of last week. The operation was difficult but was regarded as successful; and her improvement since had been steady and her condition satisfactory. The strain was well off from all concerned and her full recovery apparently assured when at the time stated she suddenly said, "Oh" and died. The cause of her death was embolism, which means the formation of a clot of blood somewhere and its conveyance by blood to the heart, where it clogs that organ and produces almost instant death. It constitutes one of the dangers to be encountered in surgery, one which is fortunately rare but against which there is really no provision. It is recalled that Marion Boydston and Mrs. Henry Klove were victims of the same trouble.
Minnie Johnson was born in England in 1866, emigrated with her parents when she was two years old to Chicago where she grew up and was in 1884 married to Harry Pincombe. They remained in that city for a time but removed soon to Eureka, Illinois, and came thence to Nevada about 1897, Mr. Pincombe having previously become a frequent visitor here as a horse-buyer. Here she has identified herself well with the community, demonstrated the possession of notable energy and capacity, won the warmest estimation of all who knew her and proven herself in every sense an admirable woman. Her death is a shock and grief to the community, and a terrible blow to her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, son, two grandchildren, her mother, a sister and four brothers, the most of her own family being now residents of San Francisco. She was a lifelong and active member of the Methodist church and her funeral will be conducted from the church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock.
