The W. B. Hand and James Oswalt families and Joe Vasey attended the funeral of Mrs. Clyde Oxley at Peoria Sunday. Mrs. Oxley was a young woman, a bride of a few months, and tho' living near Collins all her life had a number of friends in this vicinity, who mourn her death. She was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Young whom with husband, sister and brother survive her.

BLANCHE YOUNG OXLEY

Blanche A. Young Oxley youngest daughter of William and Lauwreatha Young of Collins, was born in Polk County, Iowa, February 23rd 1890 and died at her home in Story County July 5th 1913.

This death is particularly and as she was a bride of only seven months, having been married to Clyde M. Oxley, November 1912. She leaves to mourn her early departure husband, father, mother, sister Alta, and two brothers Fred and Joe, together with many relatives and friends.

Her illness was brief but she realized that she must die, was resigned to the inevitable and state all was well, also made complete funeral arrangements. Blanche was a dutiful child in the home, a loving daughter and a faithful wife. She was of an affectionate disposition winning in her ways and her circle of friends was a large one. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon July 6th from the Peoria M. P. Church, conducted by her pastor Dr. C. J. Nutt whose text was taken from St. John 14. The favorite chapter of the deceased. An efficient choir from the Collins church rendered beautiful music also a solo was rendered by Miss Buck of Nevada. Interment was in the beautiful Peoria Cemetery, the burying ground of the connecting families. The following cousins acted as pall bearers: Jesse and Chauncey Vasey, Harry Gibson, Roy McClannahan, Amos Carr and Glen Young.

The floral offerings were numerous and very beautiful and this was the largest funeral ever held in this community, the estimate being eight hundred people. The relatives and friends present from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Benj. Young of Selma, Iowa; Henry Gibson of Milford, Ind.; Mrs. Maud Rogers of New Mexico; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Tilm and Mr. and Mrs. Emory Nasen of State Center, Iowa; Mrs. M. Gibson and Mrs. Olga Holm of Des Moines; Mrs. Dolly Weston of Rolf, Iowa; Mrs. Martha Woods of Mingo, Iowa; Lowery McClannahan and family and N. M. McClannahan and family of Mitchellville, Ia. Members of the Kern family of Ira, Ia., Miss Clara Hilton of Cambridge and Misses Wharton and Buck of Nevada and others whose names we did not get.

Mrs. Clyde Oxley of Collins died at her home after a short and serious illness. She was just a bride of seven months having been married to Mr. Oxley on November 28, 1912. She was 23 years of age and leaves a husband, parents and other relatives and a host of friends.
