Chris was born on June 28, 1982 to Richard and Kathy (Miller) Vilmont. He grew up on the family farm south of Ames. He enjoyed exploring the area with friends and his brother. In high school his main interest was football, and was a member of the Ballard team that went to State in 2000. After high school he went on to study computers and technology at Vatterott College. He was an IT Consultant / Technical Supervisor at RSM in Des Moines.
His love of computers started in his Uncle Mark’s shop. He continued his education and knowledge by helping to develop the lab at his work and his own lab. He was always studying and testing to gain more certifications in his field. His passion, natural talent, and search for knowledge led him to becoming a leader and invaluable member at RSM.
He met the love of his life Kristin Moll in 2014. He loved Kristin’s son deeply and became his father figure and close friend. Their hobbies included video games, adventures, traveling, Dave & Busters, Shooting hoops, and the outdoors. Chris also enjoyed spending time with his very large family. Team building with his work friends, LAN parties, going on Pokémon adventures, and just hanging out and relaxing.
He is survived by mother Kathy (Ron) Johnson; brothers Damon Vilmont of Slater and Nathan Vilmont of Des Moines; Step-siblings Gregg (Amy) Johnson of CA, Michelle (Mike) Kiefer of MN, Jennifer Clavero of TX, Becky (Bill) Brown of Roland, Justin (Heather) Johnson of Huxley, Jarrod (Synthia) Johnson of Story City, Jennifer (Wayne) Bruggerman of Story City, and Chad (Wenda) Bishop of Polk City; and Life Partner Kristin Moll and her son Keaton.
Chris was preceded in death by his father Richard in 2002, and grandparents Max Miller, Homer Vilmont, Mary Vilmont, and step grandmother Eunice Vilmont.
