Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Norma Esther Mather, 83, of Ames passed away August 4, 2017 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church with a visitation an hour prior. Interment will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery following the service.

Norma was born September 12, 1933 to Paul and Esther (Goodman) Evans in Marshall County. Norma graduated from Collins High School in 1951. In June of 1951, Norma was united in marriage to Roger Mather. They lived in Ames and raised their four children there. Norma was a wonderful cook and loved hosting events for family and friends. Norma enjoyed watching sporting events and for several years she and Roger attended the sprint car races at the Knoxville Raceway.

Norma was a member of the sorority SIS and formed many lasting and wonderful friendships over the years.

Norma is survived by two sons, Brett of Ankeny and Mark (Cathy) of Ames; a daughter, Marilee (Pat) Cayo, Loveland, CO; three grandsons; a granddaughter; two great granddaughters; a sister, Mary Ann (Gary) Wittrock, of Chaska, MN; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Evans, of Ankeny, and Bonnie Evans, of Nevada, and many nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl and Jerry Evans; her husband, Roger, and a son, Rodney.

Memorial contributions can be directed to a charity of choice.
