Martha J. Domek, 93, of Cedar Falls, formally of Ames passed away July 13, 2017 at the Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. There will be a memorial service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 29 at Adams Funeral Home, 502 Douglas Avenue, in Ames.
She was born Martha Joanna Lantz on July 28, 1923, in Elkins, West Virginia, first child Russell and Irene (McCollam) Lantz. Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, the eldest of 9 children, she married Clyde J. Domek on June 1, 1942 in Napoleon, Ohio. She and Clyde moved to the Midwest after the war and settled in Ames, Iowa in 1963. Martha dedicated her life to her family and service to her community. She was a proud 50-year "sister" in Chapter DK of the National T.T.T. Society, serving terms as Iowa Board President and National Parliamentarian of this esteemed organization. She was a Worthy Matron of the Ames chapter of Eastern Star, represented the state in the Friendship Force of Central Iowa, and was a longtime volunteer at Heartland Senior Services of Story County in Ames.
She is survived by her three children, Kathryn of Waterloo, Lance (Katie) of Marion and Thomas of Ames; her grandchildren, Liza Domek and Sylvia (John) Blaha; her siblings, Helen Groseclose, Sara Painter and Noel Lantz; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde; her parents; and her brothers, Russell Jr., Robert, Donald, Philip, and James.
