Sonja Accola Ehrenreich of Miami passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Sonja was born in Ames, Iowa in 1947 to Glen and Lucille Accola.
Sonja loved music including choir, piano, saxophone and even a family band! She graduated from Ames High School and attended Augustana College in South Dakota. She returned to Des Moines where she attended Americana School of Cosmetology and enjoyed a long career as a hairdresser before moving to Miami in 1969. When she moved to Miami, she became an avid Miami Dolphins and Hurricanes fan. Shortly thereafter, she met the love of her life, Jack Ehrenreich, MD. They were happily married for 29 years and had 2 daughters and a step-daughter, Amy, Sarah and Sherry.
In 1970 Sonja met her best friend Kay Miller with whom she shared endless trips, family dinners and holidays. She became a second mother to Kay's daughters Lesley Miller and Elizabeth Beaton. She enjoyed many trips to North Carolina, Sanibel Island and Iowana Beach, Minnesota. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt, and treated everyone she met like family. After owning 2 gift stores, she managed her husband's office and later joined Brighton Collectables at the Falls for 13 years.
She is survived by her brother Gordon (Cindy) Accola of Ames, Iowa; her daughters and sons-in-law Amy (Mike) Reid, Sarah (Frank) Robleto and Sherry Ehrenreich; and grandchildren Jack and Evan Reid and Jacob and Madelyne Robleto.
A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Congregation Dor Chadash, 9400 SW 87th Ave, Miami, Florida 33176. Shiva immediately following.
