Rex R. Gross, 86, of Colo, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. A graveside service will be held on at a later date in the Colo Cemetery in Colo, Iowa.

Rex was born in Story County, Iowa on March 8, 1931 to Randolph and Mae (Scott) Gross. He attended and graduated from Colo High School in 1948. Following high school he joined the Army and honorably served his country. He married Esther Hobbs on January 16, 1955. The couple resided in Colo where Rex had a construction company. In retirement Rex and Esther moved to Texas. In 2012 they moved back to Colo.

Rex was a member of the Colo Masonic Lodge, and the Colo American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and building various things.

He is survived by his wife Esther Gross, of Colo, IA; his children Rex (Lori) Gross, of Madrid, IA, and June Gross, of Colo, IA; grandchildren Jami (Jason) Toalson, of Leawood, KS, and Gavin Gross, of Nevada, IA; great-grandchildren Nic Gross, Kerrigan Toalson, and Krosby Toalson.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, brother Curtis Gross, and nephew Larry Gross.
