OBITUARY

DEATH OF FLORENCE EMMONS

Word has been received in this city today of the death of Miss Florence Emmons, which occurred on Tuesday of this week at the home of her sister, Mrs. Otis F. Briggs, at San Diego, California. The news is an utter surprise to Miss Emmons' friends in Nevada, and it will be received with very great regret. Details are meager; but it is understood that her death is due to a stomach trouble of long standing; and that she had been seriously ill for about a week. Her remains will be brought back to Iowa, and will be buried at Des Moines, where her father is buried. Miss Emmons came to Nevada with her father's family in the '70s, and she remained a resident here until last spring, when she accompanied the family of her brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Briggs, to California, and later located with them at San Diego. She was a woman most highly esteemed in this community, and the sympathy for her family and friends will be very great.

Briggs, who had made a quick trip from Santa Ana, California, and were taken to the home of her sister, Mrs. Ole O. Roe of Des Moines. The funeral will be held in that city some time today. Mr. and Mrs. Dutton met the funeral party Saturday evening at Boone and have been with them in Des Moines over Sunday. Other friends would go down from Nevada this morning.
