Raymond was born to James W. & Mildred (Robertson) Day. He married Ruth Eileen Boyd Feb. 19, 1939 and the had three children; Suzanne, David & Ronald.

Raymond James Day, 78, of rural Nevada died of complications of a stroke at Des Moines General Hospital.
He was born in Story County to james & Mildred (Robertson) Day. He married Ruth Boyd on February 19, 1939, in Nevada. He lived his entire lifetime in Story County. He was a farmer. He was a member of Indian Creek Isaac Walton, a lifetime member of Moose Lodge, Ames, and a 30-year strong member of A.A.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Day of Nevada; two sons, Dr. David Day of San Diego, Calif., and Ronald Day of Nevada; one daughter, Suzanne Peters of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Jimmie Day of Springfield, Mo.; three sisters, Laurene Wycoff of Melbourne, Juanita Switzer and Ilo Haines, both of Nevada; and two granchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Leona Scott of Arkansas.
Funeral services were Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Nevada with the Rev. James W. King and REv. William Ballard officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Nevada. A memorial fund has been established. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
