Mrs. Sam Bakka of Roland Passes Away at Deaconess Hospital

Roland, July 1--Mrs. Sam Bakka passed away Thursday night at eleven-thirty at the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown following a long illness. She underwent a successful operation on June 22 for the removal of gall stones but death came Thursday due to a heart attack.

Mrs. Bakka was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Britson. She was born in Roland on October 30, 1879 and had lived in Roland and community all ehr life. She was married to Sam Bakka on October 19, 1898.

Besides her husband, she is survived by five daughters, Mrs. C. E. Rhodes and Mrs. Ray Rankin of Roland, Mrs. Weldon Willard of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Mrs. George Slamal and Mrs. Elvin Jacques of Marshalltown. She leaves three sons, Herbert, Luke and Cy, all of Marshalltown. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren.

Definite funeral arrangements have not been made pending the arrival of a daughter from Florida. The services will be held, however, at the Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland.
