From Nevada Representative July 13, 1906
DEATH OF PETER HOEL.
The death of Peter Hoel occurred at his daughter's home, Mrs. Griffin, on Wednesday, July 11, 1906. Mr. Hoel had lived in Nevada thirty-nine years. He came to America from Norway forty years ago and lived one year at Madison, Wisconsin, removing to Nevada then where he has lived ever since. In 1853 Mr. Hoel was married to Amelia Altomten and to them seven children were born, four of whom are still living and all were present at the funeral except Ola who lives at Homestead, Pennsylvania. John and Amelia are both residents of Nevada and Charles lives at San Francisco. The wife and mother died eleven years ago and since that time Mr. Hoel has made his home with Mrs. Griffin. About fifteen years ago deceased was stricken with apoplexy and has since been an invalid. He was born in Hamar, Norway, February 14, 1821 of just 85 years, 4 months and 28 days before his death on July 11th 1906. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock and interment took place in the Nevada cemetery. Mr. Hoel was a member of the Norwegian Lutheran church but seldom attended because he could not understand the English language.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According the above obituary, Peter Hoel's was Amelia Altomten. Other records refer to her as Petra Amelia Seton. Perhaps "Seton" (which does not seem to be a Norwegian surname) is an Americanization of of "Altomten."
