Mildred "Mili" Beatrice (Frandson) Nelson
Gilbert, Iowa

Mildred "Mili" Nelson (98) passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2017. A visitation will be held on Tuesday April 4th 2017 from 5-7pm at Stevens Memorial Chapel (607 28th St., Ames, IA 50010), a funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 5th 2017 at 11am at the Gilbert Lutheran Church (135 School St., Gilbert, IA 50105). Burial will follow services in the Gilbert Cemetery.

Mili was born January 4, 1919 to Theodore and Amy (Skogerboe) Frandson in Story City, Iowa. Mili graduated from Story City High School in 1936 and she then went on to earn her teaching degree in Cedar Falls in 1938. She started her teaching career in Whitten, IA and then to Eldora, IA and finally finding her place in the Gilbert Schools where she taught for 12 years. She married the love of her life Hjalmar S. Nelson on June 20, 1941, they were blessed with 69 years of marriage.

Mili embraced her career of teaching providing guidance and instruction to many children shaping and impacting their lives in positive ways. She also enjoyed her time on the farm, gardening especially her love of her flowers and designing her many flower gardens. She mostly enjoyed reading and time with her family and friends blessing many with her generosity and unwavering gift of kindness in her very own soft-spoken manner. She was a longtime member of the Gilbert Lutheran Church.

Mili is survived by her sister; Sara Ann of Story City, IA, Sister-in-law; Leah Frandson, many nieces & nephews, special Friends Kim, Roxanne, Matt, Amanda & Lexi, Tony & Haley Redling.

Preceded in death by her husband; Hjalmar Nelson, parents; Theodore and Amy Frandson, sister; Agnes Lincoln, brothers; Arnold and Harold Frandson.
