Cathy Lynn (Kingman) Long, 62, of Collins, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Cathy was born March 28, 1955, in Marshalltown the daughter of John Maxwell and Barbara Jean (Buck) Kingman. She graduated from Collins High School in 1973 and from DMACC with honors, in 1975. On September 27, 1975, Cathy was united in marriage to William “Bill” Long in Collins. Cathy worked 41 years for the Federal Highway Administration in Ames, retiring in January of this year.

Cathy was a member of the Collins United Methodist Church and served on the Trailside Park Committee. She was very organized and enjoyed Broadway musicals. Cathy loved spending time with her grandson.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Bill of Collins; her daughter Amanda (Tim) Mroch of Marion; her grandson, Elijah Mroch of Marion; her sisters: Patricia (Mike) Appleby of Parker, CO, Karen (Edwin) Cochran of Grinnell, Mary Beth (Guy) Elliott of Collins and Tammie (Gene) Schnur of Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Braden William Long; her brother, John Kingman Jr.; and a niece, Ashley Elliott.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 5 at the Collins United Methodist Church in Collins with Reverend Douglas Harding officiating. Burial will follow at Collins Evergreen Cemetery near Collins.
