Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Lois Ann Pietz 84, of Ames, passed to her eternal home on March 30, 2017 at The Bridges Memory Care Center where she was a resident. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ames at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 5, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Zion Lutheran cemetery, Springfield, MN at a later date.

Lois was born February 10, 1933 on her grandparent’s farm in Redwood County, near Springfield, MN. She was always proud of her rural heritage and being a steward caring for the land. Lois graduated from Springfield High School and the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics.

On July 11, 1954, Lois married Dr. Donald E. Pietz and to this union four children were born. When her children were young, she was a homemaker devoted to her family. Eventually, Lois opened her own business on Main Street in Ames selling old postcards, paper memorabilia and customized framing. Soon, she became a renowned antique dealer selling turn of the century post cards from coast to coast. Lois was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all.
She is survived by sons, Richard (Cheryl) Pietz of Huxley and Michael (Jody) Pietz of Ames; daughters, Meri (Ron) Coles of Vonore, TN and Dr. Patricia Pietz of Bowling Green, KY; grandchildren, Nicholas (Michelle) Pietz of Cedar Rapids, Nathan Pietz, Kacey Pietz and Brody Pietz all of Ames; one great grandson; sister, Marion Oelschlaeger of Plymouth, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
