Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, April 8, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Ames.

James R. Mott was born November 29, 1937 to Henry James and Ada Luama (Lee) Mott in Ames, Iowa. James graduated from Ames High School in 1955 and married Sharon Hagen on June 29, 1957 in Ames. He worked for Western Electric from 1955 to 1958, and then as a purchasing agent for the Iowa DOT until his retirement in 1997. James was in the National Guard for 25 years and retired with the rank of Warrant Officer.

James was a member and past Post Commander the of Ames American Legion Post #37, the American Legion Honor Guard, the Ames Moose Lodge, was past congregational president of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley, and most recently a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Ames.

He enjoyed gardening, golf, hunting, woodworking, and his dogs. James dearly loved his children and grandchildren.

James passed away March 28, 2017 at 79 years of age.

James is survived by his children, Daniel James (Faith) Mott of Owasso, Okla. and Jamie (Dave) Holland of Slater; seven grandchildren, Bryan Holland of Slater, Taylor Holland of Slater, Trevor Mott of Owasso, Brandon Mott of Owasso, Ryan Wisdom of Owasso, Dillon Wisdom of Owasso and Chad Wisdom of Owasso; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.

The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be addressed to the family.

Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Adams Funeral Home in Ames is assisting the family with arrangements.
