Martha, youngest daughter of Stephen McNichols of O'Neil, Nebraska and grand-daughter of the late John Connolly of Nevada township, died this morning of tonsilities at the paternal home, her remains will be brought tomorrow to the Connolly residence, and the funeral will be held at ten o'clock Friday morning at the Catholic church in Colo. Miss McNichols was a promising young person and was soon to graduate from the high school at O'Neil.

OBITUARY

MARTHA McNICHOLS

Martha, youngest daughter of S. F. McNichols, died Wednesday, March 31, 1909, at the paternal home in O'Neill, Nebraska, from tonsilitis, after an illness of two weeks. She had partially recovered from a severe attack of the disease when on Saturday evening she was taken with a relapse and on Wednesday she passed away. She was in her sixteenth year, and had grown up in O'Neill, making frequents visit with her parents to the home of grandparent, Mr. and Mrs. John Connolly near Colo, Iowa. She was a bright and accomplished girl and was a member of the graduating class of St. Mary's academy. Although two years younger than any others of her class of seventeen, she would have graduated with third honors. She was a good musician and her sweet voice was of marked promise. Robed in dress prepared for her graduation and decorated with her class pin she was brought Thursday evening from the home at O'Neill to that of her grandmother, Mrs. John Connolly at Colo, and thence on Friday the journey was by way of Saint Mary's church to final rest in the Colo Cemetery, beside the remains of her mother, who left us sixteen months ago. A host of relatives and family friends joined in the obsequies. Father Cassidy celebrated requiem high mass, and gave a most eloquent and touching sermon. He spoke of the departed as one of God's fairest flowers; of his having baptized her; of knowing her as a prattling child; and of her beautiful young girlhood, dispensing smiles and pleasant greetings to all she met, and winning love from all who knew her.

She is survived by her father, her sister Mabel and her brother Will and many other relatives less near. The floral offerings were many and beautiful; and the pall bearers were Will McNichols, Joe McNichols, Will Haley, Paul Lowrey, Roger Hopkins and Walter O'Donnell.
