Robert Junior Johnson, 84, of Port Washington, WI, formerly of Ames, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017. A visitation will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 3-4:00 p.m., at Stevens Memorial Chapel (607 28th St., Ames, IA 50010). A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Stevens Memorial Chapel, burial will take place in the Ames Municipal Cemetery at a later date. The family has requested that you wear Baseball attire if you have it.

Bob was born September 11, 1932 in Collins, IA to Robert and Ethel (Stock) Johnson. He graduated from High School in 1950, and went to work for the DOT, where he met his wife Karen Scott, they were married on June, 12, 1954 in Maxwell. Bob and Karen were blessed with four children.

Bob worked for the DOT for 32 years before retiring. He was responsible for Traffic Census in the state of Iowa.

Bob loved Baseball, he played it, listened to it, read about it, kept stats on it, and watched it at every opportunity, he had various favorite teams over the years, but was loyal to the Cubs during his later years. Bob was a devoted ISU fan, following both Football and Basketball. Bob and his son Steve spent plenty of early mornings in the parking lot at ISU tailgating for the games.

Bob was an avid reader, enjoying a wide range of styles and topics. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his kind, caring and humble nature. Bob had a gentle spirit with a heart bigger than the world.

He is preceded in death by his wife; Karen (Scott) Johnson, parents; Robert and Ethel, siblings; Shirley (Johnson) Fink, Donald Lee "Dutch" Johnson, Sandra (Johnson) Quirk, great-grandchildren; Elizabeth Johnson and Star Leann Whitney.

He is survived by his children; Terry (Karen Oleski) Jenkins of Port Washington, WI, Stephen (Diane Wilhelm-Johnson) Johnson of Port Washington, WI, Michael J. (Anita) Johnson of Portsmouth, IA, and Michael D. (Donna) Johnson of Aurora, CO, sister; Sheila (Jerry) Sabin, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
