Omar Brendeland, 86, of Huxley, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at home surrounded by family in the house where he was born.
Omar, was born April 22, 1930 in rural Huxley, the son of Ole and Lydia (Handeland) Brendeland. He graduated from Huxley High School in 1948 and was united in marriage to Valerie Fjelland on September 1, 1951 in Huxley. Omar was a lifelong farmer and had a passion for music. He enjoyed playing the piano, singing and was a member of a barbershop quartet. They were famous for their spur of the moment trips and visited 49 of the 50 states. He was a devoted servant at Palestine Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. Omar enjoyed family time especially with his 6 grandchildren - Lindsey & Rob Hays, Case & Tiffani Brendeland, Megan & Joe Russell, Jerelyn & Adam Carr, Lauren Brendeland & Brian Kerns, Timothy Brendeland and 7 great grandchildren - Reece, Riley & Regan Russell, Ava & Everly Hays, Elsie & Elijah Brendeland.
Omar is survived by his wife Valerie of 65 years, a son Merle and daughter Janis. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marla in 2008; parents; sister, Lorraine and brother, John.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Palestine Lutheran Church near Huxley. The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 10. The funeral will be at 10:00 Saturday, February 11th.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Palestine Church or Cemetery Fund.
