George See
Times-Republican: George See, aged 70 years, died at the soldiers home at 9:04 o'clock this morning of dysentery and inflammation of the bowels. Mr. See was a resident of Grinnell, having entered the home from there on Nov. 17, 1900. He was a veteran of Company K, Eighteenth Iowa infantry. His enlistment dated from Aug. 11, 1862, at Iowa Center, Story county. His war record shows that he was reported missing and was captured April 13, 1864, at Moscow, Ark. He was paroled Dec. 5, 1864, and returned and joined his company Feb. 8, 1865. He was discharged July 20, 1865, at Little Rock, Ark. The record of his relatives, taken at the time he entered eight years ago, shows that he at that time had a wife, Mrs. Jennie C. See, and four children aged, 1, 3, 4 and 6 years. At the home headquarters this is believed to be an error, as it is understood that he is a widower, but is survived by three grown children, Mrs. Gillespie, living near Grinnell, and R. D. See, living in Grinnell, are two of the known children. A third, whose name is not known, also lives near Grinnell. The body will be shipped to Grinnell tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock.
