Burial of Thomas Jorstad.
The remainst of Thomas Jorstad arrived in Story City Wednesday evening and the funeral was held Thursday after noon from the St. Petri church. His death took place on the Saturday evening previous at Fort Dodge, where he had been working for the past two months on a night shift at kiln-burning. His death was caused by an accident. It appears that as he was ascending the steps of his boarding place Saturday evening and had nearly reached the top, his foot slipped and he tumbled over the side of the stairway, which had not protecting railing on the outside. He struck on his head, his neck broke, and his death was instantaneous. His age was thirty nine years. He was born in LaSalle county, Illinois, lived for twenty-two years in Story City, and here grew to manhood. He leaves three brothers, Lars, Olai and John, and two sisters, Mrs. Solberg and Mrs. Sampson. The brothers were here to attend the funeral.
